The Masters: Shane Lowry goes wild as he celebrates incredible hole-in-one at par-3 tournament

Shane Lowry got his preparations for The Masters off to the perfect start - and went wild as he celebrated an incredible hole-in-one.

Northern Irishman Lowry was warming up for the 2019 Masters in the annual par-three tournament at Augusta National Golf Club .

And the 150/1 outsider will hope his warm-up game is a sign of things to come this weekend after he lobbed a beauty of hole-in-one on the second hole.

Lowry's ace sparked jubilant celebrations as the delighted 32-year-old high-fived fellow competitors, hugged his young daughter Iris - sporting his name on the back of her outfit - and lifted her into the air.

A video of his stunning shot and elated celebration was tweeted by tournament organisers with the words ' @ShaneLowryGolf sure knows how to start a round of golf'.

The tweet was liked more than 3,000 times by golf fans - including one lucky punter who claimed he'd won £1,000 on the back of it.

Lowry will be hoping to make the cut for just the second time at golf's first major of the year. Despite his struggles in The Masters, he has a decent record in majors, having finished 12th or higher in three of the four flagship events in golf.

And he says he has never been more excited about competing at Augusta as he is this week.

"The first year you are in awe of the place, it's a bit weird," Lowry said in quotes reported on Balls.ie . "When you become more comfortable, it is easier to get your bearings and stuff. Even just driving down Magnolia Lane, walking in the clubhouse, it all takes getting used to...

It just takes your whole game to be good. I feel like for the most part of the year my chipping has been pretty good, my iron play has been lovely for a few months, and my putting... I still feel has been decent and I feel comfortable...

But Jesus... this is... there is no doubt... I have never been as excited, since the first time I was here. It is the most excited I have been to come to a golf tournament. It was almost last week I was counting down the days."
