The Masters Par 3 Contest - Live stream, TV channel and why it's a bad omen for players?

The Masters is filled with history and one of the tournament's favourite traditions is the annual Par-3 Contest on the eve of the first round.

Everything about Augusta National is unique and the nine-hole mini course is no different, solely made up of par-3s.

It's a family affair as players get the opportunity to play alongside their partners, children and friends.

It was introduced in 1960 and it's no surprise the competition has went from strength to strength over the years. It offers plenty of fun and excitement with an incredible 94 holes-in-one since it started, including a record nine in 2016.

It's the perfect support act to the tournament and it's set to be another must-see event this year.

Here's everything you need to know about The Masters Par-3 Contest.

The Masters Phil Mickelson stat that's a good omen for Rory McIlroy to win the green jacket

When does it start?

The Par-3 Contest will start tonight at 7pm (Wednesday 4th March).

Is it on TV and can it be live streamed?

The event will be shown live on Sky Sports Golf and Main Event.

It can also be streamed live via the Sky Go app or you can subscribe to a Now TV pass.

Who has previously won it?

Many of golf's greats have claimed victory in the event including Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer and Johnny Miller.

The Masters latest weather forecast - Will play be interrupted this week?

Americans Ryan Moore, Jimmy Walker and Kevin Streelmen have won the competition in recent years.

Legend Tom Watson proved age is just a number last year as he came out on top for the third time in his career.

Why is it a bad omen for players?

You would think winning the Par-3 Contest would indicate a player is in good form heading into the tournament itself - but history show us that's not necessarily the case.

In almost 70 years, incredibly, no player has ever won the Par-3 Contest and went onto win The Masters in the same year.

Surely someone will break the hoodoo eventually but at the moment it's not necessarily a good sign to pick up the W.
