The Masters 2019 leaderboard as Rory McIlroy falls off the pace

Tiger Woods is just one shot behind at The 2019 Masters going into the weekend at Augusta National behind five leaders in Francesco Mollinari, Jason Day, Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and Brooks Koepka.

But all the talk was about Woods and his action-packed round that sparked so many talking points on a day of drama.

Adverse weather conditions almost got the better of the 43-year-old on the back nine as the threat of lightning resulted in a break in play.

That interrupted Woods’ red-hot streak - and a security guard almost slide-tackling him to the ground whilst trying to prevent a patron getting too close, could also have had a damaging impact.

But like we’ve seen on so many previous occasions, Woods has an answer for everything.

His response to the minor setbacks were birdies down 14 and 15 and stunning approaches thereafter.

It wasn’t just a day of interest at the top end of the contest, either, as World No.1 Justin Rose crashed out after failing to make the cut.

Elsewhere, Koepka is now 50-under over his last ten majors and is hanging in there at seven-under for the contest.

The pack got much closer on Friday, though, as Day, Mollinari, Oosthuizen, and Scott all went through the gears at various points to shine.

The Masters 2019 Day Two highlights: Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods enjoy differing fortunes

Much-fancied Dustin Johnson continued to go about his business in a quiet way and is just one off the pace alongside the surprise package of the day, Justin Harding. who cannot be ruled out, either.

It didn’t go to plan for pre-tournament favourite Rory McIlroy , who finished level-par after a frustrating day on the greens.

And Bryson DeChambeau crashed back down to earth with a three-over par finish that halved his six-under par opening round.
