The massive amount of fly tipping dumped near a walkway in Skewen

A huge amount of fly-tipped waste has been left along a walkway in Neath.

Bags of building waste, plastic containers, suitcases, black bags, plasterboard and clothing are amongst the trail close to the Tennant Canal in Skewen.

An old bath filed with and surrounded by building material, polystrene, metal fittings, wood and other items has also been dumped along the stretch of walkway.

Rugs, bottles and wooden pallets have also been left behind.

Local resident Jessica Styles discovered the eyesore, while out walking with her daughter.

She said: “My daughter was nearly in tears over this. She wanted to go and pick it all up, but I told her we have to report it first and let the council deal with it.

“I think it’s a real shame that our children can see the wrong in dumping rubbish but some adults don’t. We need to see the world through their eyes”.

Ms Styles daughter Laiana, aged 9, added: “I am totally disgusted how much rubbish was there was.

“It is very upsetting that people are ruining our local area, not only for us but all the local wildlife too”.

Neath Port Talbot Council says it is aware of the widespread mess, and would be clearing it away shortly.

A spokesman for the authority said the incident is under investigation.
