The Masked Singer star Mel B 'fooled friends and family' and pretended to be bandmate

Unmasked Mel B says she pretended to be Emma Bunton on The Masked Singer UK but it didn't quite work out how she planned it.

Scary Spice was the second celebrity to be unveiled on Saturday night as we got to see who was behind the Seahorse.

Judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall made predictions on who they believed was behind the mask.

It left Mel with the Harlequin and Grandfather Clock in the bottom three.

They then decided who the loser was - and the former Spice Girl was finally unmasked as panellist Mo correctly guessed her identity.

Mel says she totally fooled her friends and her family.

But her big plan to give off Baby Spice vibes backfired as she was sussed out.

Melanie, 45, said: “I'm really sad but also relieved because now I can go back to being me.

“My mum didn’t know, my kids didn’t know and the girls don’t have a clue.

“I loved Seahorse. She was so cute. I liked getting into this sweet, cutesy character which is a bit different for me.

"I signed up because she wanted to do a show that is fun, crazy, over-the-top and completely bonkers. I loved it."

She confirmed she attempted to channel her bandmate Emma Bunton, but trying to disguise her identity "just didn’t work".

She added: "I thought I disguised myself pretty well with my voice and accent, and trying not to be like me, I guess I didn't, did I?"

The panel finally got to the bottom of it - but it wasn't easy (ITV)

She was found out after her performance of Can't Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue.

Despite playing to millions with the Spice Girls, the star says she was still anxious heading onto stage.

Mel added: "The mask was pretty hard to wear because it was quite hard to breathe which makes it even more hard to sing, especially as I was trying to sing in this breathy, girly voice.

"I was so nervous because I had to sing in a way I still hadn’t really got used to and I was really out of my comfort zone."
