Ricky Wilson had many fooled when he was Phoenix on ITVs The Masked Singer as lots of viewers and judges Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall thought Phoenix was in fact, David Tennant. From the way he walked to the way he moved his huge Phoenix head, there were many similarities to the former Doctor Who star.
Speaking on the ITV morning show Loose Women, Ricky revealed that David guessed he was Phoenix and texted him, asking if he was. He said: "At one point I was convinced! That is the weird thing you are watching it and I go 'I'm not sure if that is me' and when I watched the final, I thought that I might win it!" Ricky added: "David actually texted me. He texted me and said are you the Phoenix? and I texted back 'I assumed it was you, David'...I was channelling David Tennant, I thought I'm going to try and make them think I am."

Ricky/Phoenix came runner up in the crazy entertainment show with Charlie Simpson from Busted winning the show as Rhino. Speaking on the show when he was unmasked, Ricky said: "David Tennant I'm very pleased with that. Yeah, I'm a bit sad I'm not David Tennant either."
The Kaiser Chief frontman also said that although he started the show not wanting to win, as he survived more rounds he began wanting to win the show. He said: "At first I didn't want to win but then you get through a couple more episodes and you start wanting to win it."
