The Masked Singer 'hit by leak' amid claims audience members let slip stars' identities

The Masked Singer has reportedly been hit by a leak amid claims members of the studio audience have been letting slip the secret identities of the mystery stars.

The show is filmed in front of a studio filled with fans, who are warned not to talk about who is behind the masks.

It worked perfectly for the first series, which was a huge hit, but there are now fears the next line-up of mystery celebs could be outed online by gossipy members of the audience.

An insider told Daily Star : "They are all told they must keep it secret and not tell anyone. But quite a few have been telling their friends.

"During filming for the first series, it was easier to keep everything secret.

"But now the show is such a hit, there is a lot more interest and some people who were at filming sessions haven’t been able to resist gossiping about it."

The insider added: "If the names become public knowledge it will be a disaster."

ITV have been contacted by Mirror Online comment.

The singing competition is described as a "surreal and surprising guessing game that will see 12 famous faces compete to pull off the best performance".

Singer Rita Ora, Comedian Jonathan "Wossy" Ross and presenter Davina McCall are returning for the wacky series.

There are some changes on the panel with Ken Jeong not making a return and being replaced by comedian Mo Gilligan.

Series' host Joel Dommett told Digital Spy: "He's so good, brilliant. It was nice to have someone new in the mix. He threw out a lot of hilarious names, as did everyone.

"The panel is brilliant this year. We're so lucky, everyone gets along – there are no crazy divas."

Joel added the show has come at a perfect time.

A glimpse of the first characters to be featured in the next series has also been revealed, with new additions including a sassy Alien and a sausage wrapped in paper.

The Masked Singer returns to ITV at 7pm on Boxing Day.
