The Masked Singer fans failed to spot big clue identifying Jacket Potato

Fans of The Masked Singer have failed to spot a huge clue that may give away the identity of Jacket Potato.

Last week, Jacket Potato performed Elvis Presley's Viva Las Vegas on the ITV show. The character wore takeaway box shoes, a baked beans shirt, butter on his head and a tin foil suit.

Following their performance, judge Mo Gilligan guessed it was British comedian Jack Whitehall or American rapper Sean Paul.

Meanwhile, judge Davina McCall suggested it could be Blur's Alex James because he makes his own cheese which is a classic topping for a jacket potato.

Chat show host Jonathan Ross guessed it was EastEnders star Shane Richie, while pop star Rita Ora thought it could be actor Mickey Rourke.

Viewers watching at home were convinced Jacket Potato was either Shane Richie, Matt Lucas or Brian Conley. One fan, Bethany, tweeted: "Jacket Potato is obviously Shane Richie right?!?!? It sounds just like him. Plus the clue said something about him having a collection and doesn't he collect vintage toys?"

Chloe said: "Jacket potato is BRIAN CONLEY. I’m sure of it." And Ciara said: "I'm thinking Matt Lucas is Jacket Potato. that's only because he sang the #BakedPotato song during the #Covid19 pandemic!"

However, the judges and viewers failed to pick up on a major clue - the song Jacket Potato was singing.

Jacket Potato performed a cover of Viva Las Vegas. The song's title ties in with the clue as Shane Richie appeared in an ITV series in 2018 called 'Last Laugh In Vegas'.

He appeared in the fourth episode which saw nine British showbiz stars of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s travel to Las Vegas.
