A number of permanent and fixed term contracts are available with the highly responsive team, aimed at "crew members in development".

Successfull candidates will not only be responsible for "saving and rescuing endangered life" from the Pier Head but will also improve water safety in the community as a whole.

Other duties set out by the role include "protecting the environment from hazardous materials" and supporting safety events.

The ability to steer and manoeuvre rescue boats is also required by crew members who will receive a salary of £21,339 per year, with an extra allowance of £35.37 per night shift.

"Sleeping in" allowances will also be given to employees at a rate of £9.95 for each sleeping in duty, while any continuous responsive activity completed during this period will attract extra pay.

Each shift known as a 'duty period' is made up of a 12 hour day shift and a 12 hour sleeping in period at night, running from 8am-8am the following day.

As part of the recruitment process, candidates are required to complete a fitness test - including a bleep test and simulated aptitude tests in water on August 12, 13, before they are invited to interview for the role.

Interviews will be held on August 21 and 22, while the closing date for all applications is Monday July 22.
