The Marc Guehi move from Maurizio Sarri that ends Gary Cahill's Chelsea era

Gary Cahill might be the club captain, but the Chelsea man has had little chance to play this season under Maurizio Sarri.

However, the final nail in his Blues career seems to have come at Leicester City where the 33-year-old wasn't even named on the bench for the last Premier League match of the season.

With Andreas Christensen picking up an injury in the win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night, it was expected that Cahill might make his final appearance against the Foxes

But Cahill wasn't even on the bench for the game and instead Sarri went for youngster Marc Guehi as the centre-back back-up, while Christensen was just about fit enough to be a substitute as well.

It has been a really difficult season for Cahill, who expressed his disappointment in a recent interview at being left out of the side so regularly.

"It's been really terrible for me personally," Cahill told the Daily Telegraph.

"It will just be erased out of my head when I leave Chelsea. My last memory will be last season's FA Cup final.

"It's been very difficult. I have played on a regular basis over the previous six seasons and I've won everything with Chelsea, so to be watching from the stands is something I didn't expect."

Instead, Sarri decided to go with Cesar Azpilicueta as the centre-back in case Christensen is struggling with his injury for the Europa League final.

It spells the end of Cahill's marvellous Chelsea era, in which he has won everything from the Premier League to the Champions League.
