The many faces of Neil Lennon's Celtic as Hoops boss banishes an old Brendan Rodgers failing

Despite marching to eight consecutive titles, not since the last time Celtic didn't win the league have they opened their Premiership campaign with five straight victories.

Neither Ronnie Deila nor Brendan Rodgers managed it, with Saturday's 1-0 win over Hamilton ensuring Neil Lennon became the first manager since, well, Neil Lennon to achieve the feat.

Of course, titles aren't won over five games but it's what Celtic have shown during this early stretch that's more interesting than the stat itself.

It's hard to level too much criticism at Rodgers considering his achievements, but his side were sometimes accused of being inflexible.

In the opening clutch of games this term, Lennon's Celtic have already shown they can win in various ways.

There was the swashbuckling, free-flowing goalfests against St Johnstone and Motherwell, the tactical masterclass at Ibrox and now the stuffy, ground out success at Hamilton.

Questions linger over whether any of those faces will fit on the European stage but, domestically, Celtic look well-equipped to stay the course for yet another season.

On this week's Record Celtic podcast, Liam Bryce was joined by Gordon Parks and Kevin McAllion to review the win over Accies and look ahead to the Europa League opener against Rennes.

It's argued Lennon's tactical approach will ensure Celtic have more strings to their bow, having already shown this term he's not afraid to switch it up.

Kevin said: "It's one of the real changes you've seen since Rodgers left and Lennon took over.

"Towards the end of last season he was basically using Rodgers' blueprint. Now, you can tell he's had time to work during the summer and there are different approaches during the game.

"I look at Arsenal and the goal they conceded against Watford on Sunday and think: 'If Rodgers was still in charge would Celtic still be trying to do the same thing?'

"With Lennon in charge there's no chance of that happening. He tells his keepers to hit the second part of the pitch when playing out and I think that's just one thing that's helped in games like the one at Ibrox and on Hamilton's plastic pitch.

"In Scotland, sometimes the possession approach isn't possible and you have to find different ways to win.

"Lennon showed in his first spell as manager that he knew how to do that and he's showing it again."

Also on the agenda was Boli Bolingoli. The left-back is set to undergo a defensive examination which will determine whether he's really turned the corner, while it's argued Rennes is the perfect fixture to unleash Olivier Ntcham.
