The Mandalorian season three finale has fans ‘crying’ but some say its ‘too rushed’

The season three finale of The Mandalorian has finally dropped, leaving some fans “crying” and others saying that it felt “too rushed”. The hit Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe follows the adventures of bounty hunter Din Djarin as he traverses a galaxy far, far away with his little green friend Grogu – AKA Baby Yoda.

In this week’s episode – Chapter 24: The Return – Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Grogu, Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) and the entire Mandalorian tribe go up against the Imperial remnants led by Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). After a tense battle in the depths of Mandalore, Gideon and his Beskar-enhanced Stormtroopers were defeated, with Grogu – AKA Baby Yoda – saving the day with the Force.

After the battle, the Mandalorians reignited the Great Forge at the heart of the planet. The episode then wrapped up with some emotional scenes, in which Grogu – too young to become a Mandalorian apprentice – was formally adopted by Din, officially making the little green critter his child.

The pair then retired to their new homestead on the planet Nevarro, with the final shot showing father and son living in peace as Grogu used the Force to play with a frog while Din watches over him. The finale offered plenty of stylish action, including well-choreographed fight scenes, swordplay and some Force action.

It also had plenty of tension, emotion, Grogu-centred comedy, and – for once – a happy ending. Reactions to season three of The Mandalorian have generally been mixed, but the final two episodes have been more positively received.

Some fans felt the series really “ramped up” towards the finale, which was so “amazing” they it left them “crying.” Taking to Twitter, @StarWarsLoreGuy said: “HOLY Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 3 Finale was AMAZING I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF IT 10/10 can’t wait to see where this leads Din Djarin and Grogu in the next seasons to come.”

@pascale_groulx added: “If you’re looking for me for the next two weeks I’ll be in a corner, crying over the last 10 minutes of The Mandalorian finale”

@DueRag95 said: “Season three of The Mandalorian started out pretty meh but after the last two episodes it really ramped up! I really liked it a lot!”

@imperialwizard_ added: “Just saw The Mandalorian finale. Wow, this is peak cinema.”

@ChemChelsea joked: “‘Have you been crying?’ ‘SORRY I watched the Mandalorian before work’.”

But not everyone was satisfied with the ending, with some fans criticising the finale for being “too rushed”. @yanks_kenny said: “Wow. Never would’ve convinced me three months ago that a season of The Mandalorian would be this lackluster and have an underwhelming finale.”

@EchoOf0rion added: “The Season finale of The Mandalorian was possibly one of these most meh conclusions to a season for any show I have ever watched. So many things they could have done better throughout the whole season but it felt like so many things were left behind and not concluded.”

@Marvelous_Wrtr added: “It was an amazing episode for sure but my gosh… it was way too rushed!!! And we didn’t get any helmet-less Din!!! But the ending was so good and rewarding, leaving room for the future!”
