The Mandalorian: New Star Wars TV show revealed by Jon Favreau, with Pedro Pascal rumoured for lead role

Jon Favreau has revealed the name of Disney’s upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series, The Mandalorian.

Writing on Instagram, the Jungle Book and Iron Man director – who will act as executive producer on the series – also teased select details of the new project.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” Favreau wrote.

“The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Rumours have already begun to spread that Pedro Pascal, best known for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and as a star of the Netflix series Narcos, has been in talks for the main role. The website Making Star Wars initially reported the rumours, which have since been widely distributed online.

Few other details have been revealed about The Mandalorian, other than that the series will debut on Disney’s upcoming streaming service next year.

The studio is expected to release lots of new original content exclusively onto the service, including a possible live-action Marvel show. No release date has been released for either the show or streaming service.
