The Mandalorian" Mysterious episode five ending has fans convinced iconic Star Wars character is returning

Warning: the story below contains spoilers for The Mandalorian episode five.

A mysterious sequence in The Mandalorian’s has got fans convinced a major Star Wars character could be returning to the franchise.

At the end of the show’s fifth episode, which aired on Friday on Disney+, a mysterious character makes his way towards Fennec Shand’s lifeless body.

While the identity of that character isn’t explicitly revealed, some fans believe that the enigmatic figure is in fact bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Among the perceived clues is a sound effect that can be heard as the anonymous character approaches Shand, which mimics the sound of spurs.

That sound is closely associated to Fett in the Star Wars universe. It can be heard in The Empire Strikes Back as the character walks, and it has become a key part of Fett’s identity for fans of the franchise.

Also supporting the fan theory is the fact that the Mandalorian scene in question takes place on Tatooine, the planet where Fett is left for dead in Return of the Jedi.

It is worth noting, however, that Jon Favreau, the show’s creator, previously told Good Morning America that all of the characters in The Mandalorian are new and original, which isn’t the case for Fett – as pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter.

Favreau also highlighted the fact that The Mandalorian takes place in a different time frame.

Some viewers believe that the anonymous character is in fact the titular Mandalorian himself, pointing to perceived similarities between the anonymous figure’s armour and the Mandalorian’s.
