The Mandalorian is set "five years after Return of the Jedi" with Stormtroopers

We finally know when The Mandalorian is going to be set.

The Mandalorian is the first live-action Star Wars series to be released and will be a part of the new offering from Disney's streaming service, Disney+.

It was unconfirmed when the series focusing on a bounty hunter and gunslinger portrayed by Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal would be set - until now.

At Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Illinois, series showrunner Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni revealed that the series is set "five years after Return of the Jedi", where Favreau confirmed that "vestiges of the Empire" still exist.

Fans will know that the villainous Galactic Empire fell following the end of Return of the Jedi with the death of Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) at the hands of Darth Vader, who also perished.

Sometime in between that film and the sequel trilogy, the Empire's successors known as the First Order emerged, led by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

The Mandalorian is set to fill in what happened to the remains of the Emprie and perhaps reveal how this led to the creation of the First Order.

A clip showed the 51st legion of Stormtroopers as remnants teaming up with a villain played by Werner Herzog .

If this wasn't enough to ponder, the footage shown in the trailer for the upcoming Rise of the Skywalker The Mandalorian trailer: Star Wars series revealed footage at Celebration panel , so who knows where the story of the villainous order will go next.

The series will also star Gina Carano , Carl Weathers , and Giancarlo Esposito .

Now we just have to wait for the trailer to be released online!

The Mandalorian is released on Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
