The Mandalorian’s season finale appeared to confirm rumours of a forthcoming spin-off series, leaving fans as puzzled as they are excited.

In the closing moments of the season finale, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) is seen taking over the criminal operation once headed up by Jabba the Hutt and subsequently his second-in-command Bib Fortuna.
As Fett settled into his new digs, a title card appeared reading “The Book of Boba Fett – coming December 2021”.
The potential spin-off twist led to shock and confusion among fans.
“The Book Of Boba Fett!!! Is this a spin-off or Season 3?!?!” wrote one viewer.
Another added: “THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT??? Boba fett spin off???? december 2021 gonna be star wars month once again.”
A third viewer declared that the tease has cemented their love of streaming service Disney+ over rival Netflix.
“If there's an upcoming spin off show to #TheMandalorian called The Book Of #BobaFett coming next Christmas then honestly I'm never ever leaving #DisneyPlus ever and ill be officially canceling Netflix for good.”
Intriguingly, rumours of a Boba Fett spin-off had been circling for two months. In November, Deadline Hollywood reported that a secret Boba Fett spin-off was potentially in the works, and may film before the third season of The Mandalorian.
However, when a Boba Fett spin-off was not announced during last week’s Disney Investor Day presentation, fans assumed that the report was bogus. The tease at the end of The Mandalorian’s finale looks as if it has now contradicted that.
The presentation saw Disney announce a number of new Star Wars projects, including two Mandalorian spin-offs: Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka, which will revolve around a Jedi played by Rosario Dawson who was introduced in The Mandalorian season two.
The Mandalorian season three, which will build on a second cliffhanger ending involving a famed Star Wars character, is currently scheduled to arrive in December 2021.
