The Mandalorian and Grogu team are "secretly" hoping to make a sequel set deeper in the Outer Rim, says star Sigourney Weaver

Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and Grogu stand together at a bar in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Sigourney Weaver is making her Star Wars debut as the New Republic's Colonel Ward in The Mandalorian and Grogu – but, if she had her way, she'd come back for more in a sequel.

When we met with Weaver in London to discuss her role in the new film, we asked about her hopes for the future, and it turns out she might not be the only one in the Mandalorian and Grogu team hoping for more adventures featuring Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and his tiny green son.

"Well, in an ideal world, I'd love to make another Mandalorian and Grogu, because it was so much fun to work with Jon Favreau," she tells us. "And I'm a huge admirer, and just to be in this world, for me, it was cool. And I really like my character, and I'd love to do more work with Pedro and his sidekick.

"So, I think that, secretly, we're all hoping maybe this could produce another one that would take us further into the Outer Rim and more adventures," she adds.

In the new film, Din Djarin and his adopted son Grogu are hunting Imperial bad guys for the New Republic, reporting back to Colonel Ward (with some help from Star Wars Rebels' Zeb Orrelios).

Although The Mandalorian season 4 was planned to help set up Ahsoka season 2, the film is far more of a self-contained story, meaning the door is wide open for more adventures.

The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives this May 22. In the meantime, check out our guide to all the upcoming Star Wars movies and shows for everything else the galaxy far, far away has in store.
