The Manchester United record Chelsea can equal by beating Arsenal in Europa League final

A place in the record books awaits Chelsea this Wednesday.

The Blues face a familiar foe in London rivals Arsenal for the right to claim the Europa League trophy in a game which will be played at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Azerbaijan.

Whilst it's a first European final for the Gunners in over a decade, this is the third time in seven years in which the west London outfit have contested the final of a UEFA competition.

In total, this will be their sixth major European final and they've been victorious in five of them.

The most recent was the Europa League final win over Benfica in 2013, a feat which came 12 months after arguably the club's greatest achievement by becoming the first London team to win the Champions League.

Having claimed a top-three finish in the Premier League this season, Maurizio Sarri's side will go into the London derby knowing they are assured of a place in Europe's elite club competition next season.

With that said, there an extra incentive for them to beat Arsenal.

Should Chelsea claim victory in Baku they will go level with Manchester United as the second most successful English teams in Europe by winning their fifth 'major' tournament.

Liverpool remain out in front with eight and will be one shy of double figures should they beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final at the weekend.

Chelsea's preparations for the final have been disrupted with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek being ruled out through injury, while N'Golo Kante has emerged as a doubt.
