The 'Manchester United DNA' is back thanks to Fernandes and Solskjaer, says Patrice Evra

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has paid glowing tribute to Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has barely put a foot wrong since his arrival at Old Trafford for just under £50m in January.

And his latest performance saw him net twice, taking his goal tally in the Premier League to five with a brace against Brighton in a 3-0 win on Tuesday night.

After the win, Evra couldn't say enough about Fernandes, telling Sky Sports : “He’s everywhere. He wants the ball and he wants to play. That’s what I love about his personality, he’s not scared, he wants the ball, he wants to create chances and score goals.

"For me, he made the difference. If United do get that position (Champions League), they should say thanks to Fernandes.

"I respect all of the players, they’re doing a great job, but he is a key factor. And Ole describing him, comparing him to Scholes, he’s got those things - asking for the ball and wanting to play football.

"He makes United play. Everything tonight looked right, I know people will say it’s against Brighton but they made that game look easy because they started on the right foot.

"He’s making the other players play better. He’s in the right position, he’s always in between two players. When you watch a United game now, you just think Bruno Fernandes is everywhere. That’s what it feels like."

Evra has also noticed a change in the feeling surrounding the United side, believing the 'Man United DNA' has returned under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“I can see the players - they’re happy, they’re smiling, they fight to recover for the ball - that’s what I was talking about with the Man United DNA, it’s not just about winning trophies," added the Frenchman.

"We should give a lot of credit to Ole. Of course, people expect them to fight for the Champions League and they will say he’s the man.

"But even without that, he’s the man. We’ve come from so far to see today United playing that way. I’m smiling. Job done.”
