The luxurious Dakota Hotel in Manchester has been voted one of the highest-rated stays around the world - alongside the world-famous Claridges in London.
Dakota featured in TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Hotels in the UK and Channel Islands for 2021 at the Travellers' Choice Best of The Best Awards.
The 137-bedroom boutique hotel, which opened in 2019, ranks among the top one per cent of hotels on TripAdvisor based on positive customer reviews and has been voted as one of the highest-rated stays around the world.
Alongside 24 other hotels, 16 of which are London based, Dakota Manchester is the only hotel in Manchester and the north west region to make Trip Advisor’s Top 25 in the UK list.
Other hotels on the list included The Hari, The Stafford, Royal Lancaster and Claridge’s in London, while Llandudno's Lawton and Lauriston Court Hotel took the number two spot in the coveted list.
The Dakota hotel certainly hit the ground running after its launch in Manchester - with Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman and Spice Girl Mel B among the first guests to stay in its luxurious suites.
Located close to Manchester Piccadilly train station, the hotel boasts a destination cocktail bar and restaurant, the Dakota Grill, and the hotel’s newest edition, The Dakota Terrace, which boasts al fresco dining right next to the Rochdale Canal.

The award has been welcome news in a week when hotels have finally been allowed to reopen indoors to leisure travellers as part of the latest stage of lockdown easing.

The Traveller's Choice awards also crowned another Manchester hotel as one of the world's 'hottest new hotels' - Hotel Brooklyn on Portland Street - which was praised by guests despite only being able to open for 20 weeks over the past year since launching due to the pandemic.
Among visitor reviews for Dakota which were picked out by the judges for its award was one that said 'probably the best hotel in Manchester' and 'amazing to be back'.
It is currently rated number 1 out of 130 hotels in Manchester on TripAdvisor, with a 5 star rating among guests.
