'The manager has been really onto me' - Notts County midfielder Mitch Rose determined to keep improving

Mitch Rose has revealed how he has darted into the  crosshairs of Neal Ardley - but understands the Notts County manager is only trying to make him a better player.

The midfielder scored a terrific brace in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Halifax and would have had a hat-trick had the crossbar not intervened when he struck a thumping half-volley.

One of his goals was a fabulous strike that underlined his quality something which Ardley is hoping to see consistently as the Magpies hunt down a top-seven finish in the remainder of the campaign.

Rose says his manager has had his ears ringing in recent weeks in an attempt to get the best out of him and admits the benefits are clear to see.

“The manager has been really onto me of late,” said Rose.

“In training on Friday he made it known how much too.

“When you look back on it,  I understand he is only trying to improve me as a player.

“There’s a lot of things he said, and a lot that I thought which I wanted to say back.

“We always have a lot of conversations and analysis on  where I can improve.

“And given the performance at the weekend, the information he is giving me, if I do take it on board, then I will reap those rewards.”
