Bristol Rovers have developed a deserved reputation under Graham Coughlan of being a devilishly difficult side to break down which has too often leaned on the brilliance of Jonson Clarke-Harris to provide magic in the final third.
At New Meadow on Saturday, the script was well and truly flipped as the Gas, without their talismanic No9, roared to a breathtaking 4-3 triumph against Shrewsbury having surrendered a 3-1 lead.
This wasn't three points achieved via a stoic defensive performance or by playing the percentages - it was pure end-to-end, unhinged entertainment.
For Coughlan, a manager constantly battling for popularity despite constantly delivering results, it offered yet another insight into the environment created by the Dubliner since he took full-time charge in January.
The collective spirit at the Gas is strong, r and even without their top scorer and outstanding individual they scored four times on the road, displaying the level of character in the group.
The victory is the third on the bounce for Rovers, in all competitions, and extends their unbeaten run to six games after a slight wobble at the end of October with back-to-back defeats against Doncaster and Bolton.
Overall, Coughlan can boast a record of - a run of results that any manager at any level would be proud of.
