The Man City players out of contract this summer with season suspended

Manchester City have two players out of contract this summer amid uncertainty over when the season will resume.

The decision was taken on Friday to suspend elite level football in England until April 4 at the earliest as a result of the concerns around coronavirus.

One of the possibilities set to be discussed at a meeting with UEFA, clubs and leagues on Tuesday is the extension of domestic seasons. With a number of major leagues across Europe halted, if Euro 2020 was pushed back by a year that could allow the completion of leagues as well as the Europa and Champions League.

However, there is no certainty that football can resume by the beginning of April in what is a situation that can change quickly. One of the issues to have been thrown up by the unprecedented suspension is what happens to players out of contract , with the potential for the season to be ongoing on June 30 when a number of deals expire.

For City, that could directly affect David Silva and Claudio Bravo. Pep Guardiola has not ruled out either player staying on beyond this summer but as it stands both are expected to leave when their contracts run out.

Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane, and Fernandinho all have deals soon to enter the final 12 months. Bayern Munich have retained their interest in signing Sane from last summer despite the German being sidelined with injury since last August.
