The Man City loan star facing dilemma ahead of Liverpool's opening game

Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts is facing a dilemma ahead of Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture against Norwich City.

The 22-year-old attacker joined the Canaries on a season-long loan at the end of May, though remains a City player having signed for the Sky Blues for a reported £12m fee in 2015.

Certainly, featuring in this game would mean much more than just making a first Norwich league appearance for the English youngster, who grew up as a boyhood Reds fan.

Roberts could well shape up against Jurgen Klopp’s side on August 9, and it’s safe to say that this would be a special occasion for not only the former Fulham forward.

"Both my mum and dad are from Liverpool. Mum is blue, Dad is red," he told the Eastern Daily Press.

"My mum's dad used to play for Everton. My brother chose red and so did I.

"I have never played at Anfield, so that would be a special thing to do. Liverpool, champions of Europe, what a test for us.”

Liverpool are unbeaten in their previous 12 encounters versus Norwich, an impressive record they will be hoping to extend when the two sides meet in just over two weeks’ time.

"It doesn't really matter up there. It's family at the end of the day", added Roberts.
