The major flaw in Jose Mourinho's favourite tactic to defeat Chelsea

Over the recent years, there hasn't been a manager quite like Jose Mourinho when it comes to one-off tactics.

The now Tottenham Hotspur boss has been one of the best in the world when it comes to clinching victory in high-profile games.

During his time at Manchester United, there was one tactic in particular which Mourinho liked to adopt to stop Chelsea's biggest threat, Eden Hazard.

It was a pretty obvious way of stopping the Belgian when he was at the Blues, which was to try to man mark the star player out of the match.

Mourinho used a variety of different players to take up the mantle and effectively cut off the player who would cause him the most issues.

Phil Jones and Scott McTominay both gave it a shot, but it was Ander Herrera who had the most success in stopping Hazard.

However, Sunday's crunch match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be the first time Mourinho will have faced Chelsea under Frank Lampard, without Hazard and with his new team, Spurs.

So who will Mourinho focus on this time?

One thing that Bournemouth did in the 1-0 victory over the Blues at the weekend was look to cut the pass off to Jorginho, something that a lot of clubs managed to do last season.

However, Mourinho will certainly see Willian as the biggest threat for Chelsea, with the former Blues boss having worked for several years in west London.

That could mean Mourinho gets one of his new players to focus on the winger, with Christian Pulisic also another target to be man-marked.

It is likely that Lampard will go for the 4-3-3 formation, which means there won't really be a number ten role to focus on, while N'Golo Kante will be one of the more forward-thinking midfielders.

But Mourinho is going to have to find a new way to defeat the Blues.
