Hardware stores opened this morning as part of phase one and there are already major queues around the country.
Woodie's, B&Q and Homebase are the big stores that have opened their doors again with railings like what you'd expect to see at a music festival outside their shops.
There is of course big changes to shopping in each so that social distancing can be maintained.
Here's all you need to know about shopping safely at hardware stores across Ireland.
Woodie's
- There will be a limit on the number of people in store at any one time - hence the queues
- You have to keep a two metre distance in stores at all times
- There are sanitisation stations at the front of every shop
- Perspex screens at every checkout
- Face masks and shields for all workers
B&Q
- Follow the two metre distance guidelines
- Card and contactless payments only in store
- Only products that you can shop and takeaway on the day can be purchased
- You are asked to follow the advice of on-floor staff at all times
- No under 16s.
- Have your shopping list ready. At the entrance, workers will ask you what you need and direct you to where your required items are within the store.
Homebase
A spokesperson for Homebase said: "All our stores have been carefully set up – and modified, where needed – to ensure they can be run safely for everyone.
"We have introduced wide-ranging measures, which include Perspex screens at tills, guidelines on the floor to maintain strict social distancing and accepting card payments only."
