The major Championship transfer deals completed so far from Bristol City to Derby County

The transfer window may only just have opened, but there was still plenty of comings and goings in the Championship on July 31.

Here's a round-up of the transfer market business affecting clubs in the second tier.

Arrivals:

Middlesbrough:

Neil Warnock has completed his first signing as Middlesbrough boss on another day of transfer market movement.

Central-defender Grant Hall penned a three-year deal after leaving Championship rivals QPR as a free agent.

"I've known Grant for a few years now,” Warnock said.

“Everyone knows I’m looking at the spine of the team, and he’s the right fit for what we need.

“Grant is a smashing lad and I’m sure the fans will really take to him.”

Millwall

The Lions have announced the loan signing of promising young Tottenham striker Troy Parrott.

With a lack of game time last season under Jose Mourinho, Parrott has decided to move across London and have a season in the Championship under Gary Rowett.

Milwall have also brought in Ryan Woods on loan from Stoke City after impressing during a six month loan spell there last season.

Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls have brought in Manchester City midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru on a permanent deal.

He had been with the former Premeir League champions since the age of eight but has become the Owls first summer signing since the end of the season.

Reading

The Royals have brought in Josh Laurent after a solid year at Shrewsbury.

The free transfer joins Reading on a permanent deal. Boss Mark Bowen told the club website: "Josh fits the mould as a hungry, vibrant, energetic young midfielder who I am sure will make an impact at Madejski Stadium.

"A box-to-box style midfielder, Josh is a talented player whose career I have been tracking for some time, so I am delighted to now welcome him to the club.”

The Roylas signed Thomas after the departure of Mo Barrow to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

QPR

Mark Warburton has added former Leicester City forward George Thomas to his ranks at the Kiyan Prince Stadium.

Thomas was released by Leicester at the end of the season and has now joined up with the Championship side on a three year deal.

Departures:

Swansea City

Swansea City goalkeeper Erwin Mulder has rejoined Dutch top-flight club Heerenveen on a two-year deal.

Mulder, 31, was a free agent after his Swansea contract expired and was not offered a new deal by Steve Cooper.

The Dutchman spent two years at Heerenveen before joining Swansea on a free in 2017.

Huddersfield Town

Promising Huddersfield Town striker Kit Elliott has joined Irish club Cork City on loan.

The 19-year-old, who signed his first professional contract with Town last November, could make his League of Ireland debut at home to Bohemians on Sunday.

Elliott, who enjoyed a loan with Concord Rangers in the National League last season, will stay with Cork until the League of Ireland season finishes in November.

Bristol City

Striker Matty Taylor has left Bristol City to sign for League One side Oxford United on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old penned a three-year deal with Karl Robinson's side, who missed out on promotion in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

Derby County

Former Norwich City striker Chris Martin has seen his seven-year spell with Derby County come to an end.

Luton Town

Luton Town offered new deals to five players, but allowed midfield duo Callum McManaman and Jacob Butterfield to leave.

Both McManaman and Butterfield joined the Hatters as free agents last summer, but have now been allowed to move on.

Butterfield made 17 appearances in total, scoring one goal, while former Wigan winger McManaman scored four times in 26 appearances.

Birmingham City

The worst kept secret in world football was finally revealed in July when Jude Bellingham signed for German giants Borrusia Dortmund.

The 17-year-old midfielder finally made his move to the Bundesliga after months of speculation and links to Manchester United.

The move prompted Birmingham to retire Bellingham's number 22 shirt, a move which didn't exactly go down well with the football community.
