The lovely reason this Bristol attraction will fall quiet for a day

Avon Valley Wildlife Park plans to host a 'quiet day' to help people with autism enjoy the attraction.

On April 1, the venue will turn off its music, halt tannoy announcements and generally  keep noise levels low.

The event is being hosted to mark World Autism Awareness Day which is taking place on April 2.

A spokesperson for the park said: "On Monday 1st April, we will be opening from 11am until 4pm as a specialised Quieter Day.

"We are offering this calmer, less noisy experience for those who currently struggle with music, tannoy announcements and other noises associated with a leisure venue.

One of Bristol's oldest pubs The Llandoger Trow is closing down

"Please be aware; whilst we will have our entrance music and tannoy announcements turned off, there will be some noises that we can’t help. We hope though, that it will be the first of many enjoyed 'Quieter Days' to come."
