The lovelorn Manc who was in a rush to get to a night of drug-fuelled romance in Blackpool - it didn't go to plan

A lovelorn motorist from Manchester was clocked doing 30mph over the speed limit trying to get to a night of romance in Blackpool, police have revealed.

And it got worse for the driver - the officers who stopped him also found he was wanted by the law, without road insurance and was high on cannabis and cocaine.

He was arrested, his Audi A3 was seized and his plans were left in tatters.

Lancashire Police traffic cops stopped the driver of a red Audi A3 after it was clocked doing 86mph in a 50mph zone yesterday (Saturday July 11).

The car was chased down and seized (@LancsRoadPolice)

Their number plate recognition software then told them that the driver was uninsured, didn't hold a full valid UK driving license and was wanted by police.

The Audi was seized by officers.

To add to the already growing list of charges, the driver was also found to be driving under the influence of both cocaine and cannabis.

Lancs Road Police tweeted pictures of the offending car and wrote: "If you travel to Blackpool from Manchester for a romantic evening and drive at over 80mph in a 50mph it’s possibly best not to be wanted, to be insured and have a licence oh and not be under the influence of cannabis and cocaine!

"Driver arrested and car seized."
