NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says a long-running internal Liberal battle over preselections has been a "debacle" for the party.

His comments came after yesterday's victory for PM Scott Morrison when the NSW Court of Appeal dismissed a challenge to the legitimacy of 12 candidates he hand-picked.

ICYMI, the court ruling (which came after months of factional infighting) effectively permits the Liberals' federal executive to intervene in the grassroots preselection process, which is usually handled by rank-and-file members.

Mr Perrottet said earlier today that he was glad the matter was finally resolved, but he had received feedback from locals upset about the time it took.

"They're finally in a position where they've had to act to get candidates but … it's not just less than ideal, I think the whole thing has been a bit of a debacle," he said.

• A man crushed to death in a freak landslide in the Blue Mountains has been identified as an international finance lawyer based in Singapore who was on holiday with his family. Mehraab Mazir, 49, and his nine-year-old son were killed when they were hit by falling rocks while hiking along a popular walking track. The man's wife and their older son remain in a critical condition in hospital

• Typos be gone! Twitter has confirmed it's testing a function that would allow users to edit tweets after they've been published after appearing to joke about the feature on April Fool's Day. The network's largest shareholder, Elon Musk, recently polled his followers about the contentious but long-requested feature — but Twitter reckons, "No, we didn't get the idea from a poll."

• Emily Bates. The Brisbane Lion has been crowned the AFLW's best and fairest overnight, after a challenging year both personally and for the team. She dedicated the award to her late father, who died when she was just 15.
