Charity merchandising has evolved into a whole new genre of shopping. The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer T-shirts are even stocked by Net-a-porter. But these are so ugly that no one buying them could forget that the prime motivation was charity. This year's Comic Relief T-shirts, on the other hand, look like a good buy even without the philanthropic incentive. Stella McCartney has designed them. Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sam Taylor-Wood have worn them. Mary McCartney, Stella's sister, has shot them. And TK Maxx, a little less glamorously, is selling them: £5.99 to £14.99, with between £3 and £8 going to Comic Relief.
