Suffrage dramas now, because Madonna has declared that Ken Livingstone will NOT be the recipient of her much-coveted vote in the London mayoral elections. Though madam stopped shy of offering a full endorsement to current favourite-to-win Boris Johnson, she was good enough to offer a critique on the congestion charge that apparently blights her life.
"The traffic in London is worse than ever now," she tells Q magazine. "All Red Ken wants is roadworks going on everywhere. Don't use The Tube; can't use the roads? No. I'll just have to walk I guess."
Is walking in London taking the path of filth or the path of wisdom? Lost in Showbiz is still totally hazy on all aspects of the "life philosophy" recently expounded by the singer. Still, she does have a interesting policy proposal.
"I would make it so that young musicians wouldn't have to pay the congestion charge or taxes," she declares, "so they have more money for other things."
Mm. Let's hope Madonna's planning a mayoral run in the 2012 election. The sooner we realise that that's a definition of "key workers" we can all get behind, the sooner we'll get the capital moving.
