The London Christmas markets still going ahead in 2020

Selfridges are launching their first ever Christmas market this year

Christmas might look a little different this year, but London still has plenty of festive treats up its sleeve.

Nothing says December quite like a twinkly Christmas market – from the steaming vats of mulled wine, to the quite frankly vast numbers of bratwurst, they’re the perfect dollop of wintry goodness we’ve all been waiting for.

If you’d prefer to stay a little more socially distanced this year, there’s a treasure trove to be found online. Try the Crafty Fox Online Market for bespoke handmade gifts, or shop for all the felt and beads required to make your own. The DIY Christmas Art Market Online will also be taking place this weekend, with more than 100 artists selling ceramics, sculptures, screen prints, and more, while The 12 Virtual Night Markets of Christmas will run throughout December via Instagram stories.

A handful of venues have also confimed dates for outdoor events, so don your thickest coats and woolliest hats, and head outside to find one of this year’s loveliest Christmas markets.

Pexmas

Pexmas is spreading its market over nine days this year, to make sure there’s plenty of space for everyone to browse. With more than 50 unique stalls, expect lots of stocking fillers and tasty food and drink to fuel your search. There’s also the option to book a ticket for the Pexmas Emporium, which will be set up as a boutique market offering more space and less queueing.

Hackney Christmas Market

Bohemia Place’s usual market will take a festive turn this December, serving up wintry tipples galore, lots of street food, and artisanal gifts from ethical businesses. There’s even a gift-wrapping workshop on offer, to ensure that any presents you take home are dressed up to the nines come Christmas Day.

Selfridges

Selfridges are launching their first ever Christmas market this year, which is taking place just on the shop’s doorstep. The focus will be on food, with some of London’s most exciting chefs joining the top-notch line-up of street vendors. Family-friendly fairground rides will also be on offer, perfect for keeping smaller shoppers entertained.

Greenwich Market

Greenwich Market will open seven days a week in the run up to Christmas, with late shopping dates on the 9, 16, and 23 December. Enjoy food, drink, and festive music as you browse their selection of handcrafted gifts, from eco-friendly candles, to handmade jewellery and leather accessories.

Christmas by the River

If you like the sound of wooden cabins tucked in the shadow of Tower Bridge, head to Christmas by the River. Boasting one of the most scenic locations on this list, here you can pick up everything you need for your Christmas list, all while enjoying a tasty snack and an equally delicious view of the River Thames.
