Liverpool have lodged an opening bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
At least that's according to reports from Bild in Germany.
The Reds have reportedly made first contact with Bayern over a deal for the influential midfielder, although our friends at the Liverpool Echo deny any contact has been made for the Spaniard.
Thiago has long been linked with a move to Merseyside - a transfer that would only serve to make the Reds an even stronger proposition next season.
The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of next season and is keen to move on to a different challenge.
Bayern are keen to get around £30million for his services should he leave for pastures new.
And that could have a knock-on effect on Chelsea and their summer transfer plans.
The Blues are looking to add another frontman to their squad, having already brought in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, with Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz to one they are chasing vehemently.
Chelsea are currently the only club in for Havertz, giving them time to come to an agreement with Leverkusen over the £90million move.
However, if Bayern sell Thiago, they could go back in for Havertz.
Bayern were very interested in the young German frontman, but dropped out of the race when they baulked at his price tag, saying they could not afford him.
If they let Thiago go, and secure £30million for him, they would put that towards a deal for Havertz and could sway the player from joining the west London club.
