The Liverpool moment that started a long-standing feud between Emmanuel Frimpong and Samir Nasri

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has revealed the details of his long-standing feud with former colleague Samir Nasri, who he describes as a 'bully'.

Frimpong, now retired from football, became something of a cult hero during his time in North London despite making only 16 senior appearances, with him being mostly remembered for his social media presence.

His relationship with Nasri was always frosty though and he has now detailed the issues he had with the France international, including how his sending off against Liverpool was the trigger for the clash.

“I have always had so much respect for senior players. You can ask Aaron Ramsey, you can ask Jack Wilshere. I never disrespected anybody," he told The Athletic .

"But for me, the truth is I’ve never liked Nasri and I will never, ever like this guy. Even if he gives me five billion dollars, I will still not like him.

"After the game [against Liverpool], everybody came into the changing room and Arsene [Wenger] was quiet, you know. Obviously, he was disappointed about the result but he was quiet.

Unai Emery: We never want to play against Liverpool

"He didn’t talk, and then Nasri basically stood up in front of everybody and said we lost the game because of me.

"OK, I can understand that, but I was thinking, 'why would somebody - especially me playing, I think that was like my second game - why would any professional do that to a young player in that kind of moment?"

Things then became heated during a bad-tempered Carling Cup tie in 2011, following Nasri's move to City, where the pair faced off post-game and had to be separated by their respective teammates.

“During the game, he told me he could buy me. That’s how stupid this guy is. He probably could then because he had millions, but that’s no respect."
