The Liverpool fan hoping to raise thousands for special needs kids by selling one thing

A teacher is hoping she'll hit the jackpot with a special Liverpool FC-related number plate that will help her raise funds for children with special needs.

Sarah Roberts was attracted to the unique UK19 LFC plate as she is a massive Reds fan and hoped it would prove fortuitous as Liverpool went for glory in both the Premier League and Champions League.

After the Reds' sensational season, which saw them crowned champions of Europe and only narrowly miss out on the league title, the 41-year-old is hoping to sell the special plate for £26,000.

The teacher has committed to donating a portion of the money raised to help buy a specially-adapted minibus for the special needs school where she works.

Sarah told the ECHO: "We desperately need a minibus, we've lost a lot of funding in recent years."

She said: "I found the number plate and thought 'this could be good'. The season was looking good in the premiership, we could win the Champions League,  it could be worth significant amount, so [I] took the risk and bought it.

"I thought if we did win the Premier League or Champions League I'd put a chunk of the money [from selling it] into crowd funding to raise money for my school."

Sarah, who teaches at a Ysgol Y Gogarth, Additional Learning Needs School, in Llandudno, North Wales, has been trying to source funds for a new minibus to help her pupils travel to a nearby mainstream school where they are studying for GCSEs.

She is one of only two Reds fans in her family, with the rest of her family supporting Everton. Even having Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall in the family didn't make Sarah change her allegiance.

"I'm an avid fan. I went to every home game this season," she said.

"Neville Southall is my dad's first cousin, he was an amazing Everton goalkeeper. My granddad was a huge football fan and got Nev started. He was a massive Everton fan too. Only two of us that are Reds. We were the rogues, I've always been a Red."

The number plate is currently being advertised for £25,999 on a specialist website and the mum-of-two has promised to donate a portion of any windfall to the school for a new mini bus.

She has also promised that any money made over £20,000 will go entirely to the school.

If the plate fails to break the 20k mark then the teacher will donate 10 per cent of the sale price towards helping the pupils.

Sarah is hoping news of her number plate plan will reach the Liverpool team and has reached out to the club to see if any players would sign it as well.

She's also hopeful a player or famous fan might take a liking to the plate and snap it up for themselves.
