The Liverpool beer garden you may not even know exists

The sun is shining and summer is upon us, which can only mean one thing - it’s time to look for a beer garden.

Liverpool has no shortage of sun traps to sit and relax with an ice cold drink, but they’ll undoubtedly fill up quickly with the sun cracking the flags.

So if you’re looking for somewhere lesser known, there’s a little gem on Hope Street that is well worth seeking out.

Bread & Butter opened inside the former Clive Hitch bar and bistro in August 2018 and has been a hit with reviewers ever since.

Inside, the restaurant serves a menu inspired by the French countryside but outside guests can enjoy a hidden sun trap that lets you make the most of a summer’s day.

Bread & Butter has recently opened its doors in the day time, meaning guests can enjoy lunchtime options too - and maybe even indulge in its homemade gin infusions.

The cosy beer garden has a collection of small tables and benches and features an extensive drinks menu including wines, spirits, beers, ciders and liqueurs.

The garden, which is described as ‘a little gem on Hope Street, even features a tiny pond, a magical spiral staircase decorated with string lights and a lamppost that’s straight out of Narnia.

You can find Bread & Butter at 23 Hope Street, L1 9BQ.
