The little things you're doing to stay positive during lockdown

We're living through strange and unprecedented times.

Many of us are worrying about the impact of coronavirus on our loved ones, our own health, our employment and our finances.

And with the lockdown announced by Boris Johnson yesterday meaning many of us can't see family and friends for the foreseeable future, we're all bound to be feeling a bit blue from time to time.

With that in mind, we asked M.E.N readers what little things they're doing to stay positive during this unsettling time.

We've shared some of your ideas here. Let us know yours by leaving a comment, or you can tweet us at @MENnewsdesk.

Make rainbows

Dozens of you sent us your children's rainbow pictures.

Families have been displaying the colourful drawings in their windows to spread a little cheer to neighbours taking their daily exercise.

You can find more out about the idea here.

Stay active - and crafty

"Indoor bike or treadmill every day... and my usual cardmaking. I was going to post a pic of myself on the treadmill, but opted to post a card instead."

Shelley Bannerman

"Outdoor keep fit in the garden, finding out what distance I can travel on my my exercise bike and lots of crochet."

Marilyn Saggers

"Some small exercises, and plenty of crafting."

Jennifer Kershaw

Spring clean

" Clean your house every day. No germs, good exercise."

Barbara Thompson

Play happy music

"We are playing our 'happy songs' every day. My children's is the Pokemon theme tune!"

Nicole (@UnitedSheStands)

Get odd jobs done

"Doing all of those little jobs that you never get round to."

Lynda Curran

"Just doing all the projects I've been meaning to do now that I'm at home can get them done."

John Schweiger

If you're looking for some more inspiration for ways to keep yourself busy at home, we've rounded some of our own ideas up here.

From learning a language to keeping fit, there are plenty of fun, free ways to take your mind off things.

You can also keep your spirits lifted by following our good deeds feed.

We're sharing daily updates of the amazing things people across Greater Manchester are doing to help each other through the pandemic.
