The little-known Amazon Prime and Netflix tricks that could cut your bill in half

If you are a fan of TV chances are you have a monthly subscription to Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.

The two TV giants are competing for your attention with massive new TV series, documentaries and films all for a monthly price under £10.

Amazon has included its video service as part of the Amazon Prime package, which includes free delivery, same day delivery and access to books, magazines and more. It also gives subscribers early access to Amazon's deals pages.

However a little-know trick could mean that you are overpaying for Amazon. If you have multiple people in your house with their own subscription you can save money by giving them free access to yours.

Amazon has a service called Amazon Household that lets Prime users share their benefits with one other adult in the household. That includes access to TV shows and movies via Prime Video, free delivery and more.

Users who use Amazon Household can also manage parental control for children's devices and share digital content such as apps, games and books with other Amazon devices.

Sign up for the service can be done by heading to Amazon Household and signing up another adult. Then they will be able to cancel their subscription and save your household some money.

Amazon Prime can be tried for a week for just 99p and it then costs £7.99 a month - meaning a saving of £7.99 a month using the Amazon Household trick if two people both have Prime in a single home.

If you also have a Netflix subscription and others in your household also have one you can employ similar tactics to reduce your bills further.

Netflix's standard plan is priced at £8.99 a month and allows you to watch Netflix on two different screens at the same time. If you want to add further family members a Premium plan at £11.99 can be used on four screens at any one time.

Those who do not want to share their subscription with anybody should downgrade to the basic plan, which allows one screen at a time and costs just £5.99.
