The Little Drummer Girl viewers slam 'bloody boring' drama as they turn off 'confusing' episode

The Little Drummer Girl got off to a rocky start after viewers slammed the “dire” show for being “boring”.

The first episode of the John Le Carré adaptation aired on Sunday night, taking over the 9pm slot from The Cry.

But the drama, led by rising star Florence Pugh and Big Little Lies villain Alexander Skarsgård, didn’t impress fans, leading some to switch off the “un-engaging” show in their droves.

One viewer blasted: “#littledrummergirl Boring, confusing and un-engaging. Badly written, acted and directed. Not one redeeming feature @BBC.”

Another said: “#TheLittleDrummerGirl is boring. Elegantly shot, as you'd expect, but it's such a meandering, piecemeal dribble of drama. I couldn't care less about any of it.”

A third wrote: “Anyone else just watch The Little Drummer Girl, and have NO idea what's going on?!”

Several viewers questioned the plot of the first episode which was directed by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook.

But not everybody was as negative, with some claiming they “loved” the show – especially Pugh’s performance.

One wrote: “Loved The Little Drummer Girl. Fantastic performance by @Florence_Pugh.”

Another said: “I thought #LittleDrummerGirl was compelling & stylish and @Florence_Pugh was awesome of course.”

The espionage thriller sees budding and ambitious actress Charlie enlisted by Israeli agent Becker as part of a mission to take down a Palestinian terrorist.

The Little Drummer Girl is on BBC One, Sunday at 9pm
