The lit-up sign at Swansea train station has been broken for almost two years and people are annoyed

Walking past Swansea train station, you often hear a joke made about it.

'Welcome to Sansa' someone may say.

Others are a bit more disgruntled, suggesting it offers a poor first impression of the city to people arriving for the first time.

The lit-up sign at the entrance to the station at the top of Swansea's High Street, has not been in full working order for almost two years, and in the winter months as it has become darker, it stands out like a sore thumb, especially in the mornings and evenings.

We've got a photo which shows the 'w' in the sign has been out of action since February 2018. And now the letter 'e' has also dimmed.

A Transport For Wales (TfW) spokesman said: “We have been made aware of a faulty bulb in our Swansea station sign.

"These are bespoke illuminated letters so we need to send it for repair, which will be done as soon as possible.

"In the meantime the sign will be switched off.”

Improvements which are planned for railway stations in Wales...

Planned improvements for all Welsh railway stations

TfW has previously announced plans for improvements at the train station, such as free WiFi, improved shelters, CCTV, better provision for cycle storage and more passenger information will be delivered at Swansea Railway Station by Transport for Wales (TfW). There will also be a new waiting room.

We've taken a look at all the big changes set to alter the face High Street for good, and when we can expect to see them.
