The Lion King tickets are now on sale for Manchester's Palace Theatre

Smash-hit musical The Lion King is returning to Manchester in 2020.

The popular musical stage adaptation of the Disney blockbuster will head to the Palace Theatre for a three month.

It'll kick off on October 22, 2020 until January 31, 2021 and tickets are on sale now.

The show has previously been seen by more than 388,000 people when it visited the city in 2012 and 2015 and is expected to be just as popular this year.

Audiences will hear the enduring classics including Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Circle of Life, as well as a number of songs written especially for the show by Elton John and Tim Rice alongside South African composer Lebo M.

It features more than 50 actors, singers and dancers, the story of Simba's journey to adulthood and becoming king is brought to life using masks, puppets and striking costumes.

Since its 1997 Broadway debut the show has been seen by more than 100 million people worldwide and won six Tony Awards.

While in 2019 the musical celebrated 20 years in London's West End, having opened at the Lyceum Theatre in 1999.

Plus the live action remake starring the likes of Donald Glover and Beyoncé was released last year and became one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
