The Lion King 2019 run time revealed - is it longer than the original?

It's the circle of life and it moves us all - but for how long?

The Lion King returns to cinemas this month for its reinvention for 2019, with The Jungle Book director and Spider-Man Far From Home star Jon Favreau helming the new journey to Pride Rock.

The story is the same as it follows young lion cub Simba (Donald Glover) as he learns from his wise father Mufasa (a returning James Earl Jones) but faces the schemes of his evil uncle Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

When tragedy strikes, Simba's world is changed forever, but can he save Pride Rock from evil and be the King he was born to be?

The latest version also stars Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Alfre Woodard, and Beyonce Knowles Carter.

But just how long is the new Disney film?

The Lion King 2019 run time is 118 minutes, or 1hr 58 minutes.

The run time was revealed by the BBFC as the film was classified as a PG in the UK.

The original 1994 animated film The Lion King ran for a total of 88 minutes, or 1hr 28 minutes.

So where is all this new content coming from? There will definitely be some substantial changes.

Jon Favreau revealed previously to EMPIRE magazine that the hyenas especially underwent substantial changes throughout the making of the film when compared to the original.

We will have to wait and see what changes await us!

The Lion King 2019 remake is release on July 19, 2019.
