The likely Cardiff City XI to play against QPR and the fans' choice

Cardiff City play host to QPR on Wednesday night in a midweek Championship encounter.

The Bluebirds head into the game unbeaten in their last six league outings, having snatched a late draw against Hull City last weekend.

Neil Warnock's side are undefeated at Cardiff City Stadium this term, but Hoops boss Mark Warburton will be hellbent on changing that record.

Warnock was buoyed by the return of Marlon Pack last weekend, so expect him to retain his place in the middle of the park.

On paper, a midfield of Pack, Joe Ralls and in-form man Leandro Bacuna appears the most solid base from which City will look to counter.

Robert Glatzel's return from injury was also welcomed up at Hull City, the German grabbing his second goal in as many games, so expect him to lead the line once again. Isaac Vassell remains sidelined with a torn quad.

Junior Hoilett was preferred to Josh Murphy on the left flank last time out, but the latter will likely be reintroduced in front of the home fans on Wednesday, with Gavin Whyte likely to operate on the right.

Warnock has given Alex Smithies his backing in goal despite the return of Neil Etheridge, however some pointed the blame at the goalkeeper for the Tigers' first goal, a long-range free-kick from Kamil Grosicki, last weekend.

It would seem a little harsh to drop Smithies on the basis of that goal, especially given how well he has played in Etheridge's absence this season, so he should start.

With Sol Bamba unlikely to be fit enough to force his way back into contention — Warnock wants him to have a game for the under-23s before throwing him back into the reckoning — the back four, as has been the case all season, picks itself.

We have given our verdict, select your side to face QPR below.

Likely Cardiff City XI: Smithies; Peltier, Morrison, Flint, Bennett; Bacuna, Pack, Ralls; Whyte, Murphy, Glatzel
