Chelsea are closing in on a move to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
A £50million swoop for the England left-back has gathered pace in the last few days, after weeks of speculation around Chilwell's future at the King Power Stadium.
The Blues are in the market for a new left-back, and defensive reinforcements overall, having finished with the worst defensive record in the top half of the Premier League table last season.
Leicester were thought to be holding out for around £80million for the England man, but having failed to qualify for the Champions League it looks like their price tag has lowered.
And the Foxes' latest transfer move appears to all-but confirm they are resigned to losing Chilwell this summer.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leicester have made a move to sign Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico, with the Argentinian sure to be Chilwell's replacement in the starting lineup.
Tagliafico has been linked with a move to the Premier League before, with the likes of Arsenal and indeed Chelsea reported to have been interested in the past.
But Leicester are now in the hunt, with Romano stating on Twitter that they were in contact with the player's agent.
He said: "Nicolas Tagliafico is one of the options considered by Leicester as new left-back.
"His agent has been contacted by Leicester after Chelsea expected to complete Chilwell deal on next days (sic)."
