Chelsea's hopes of overturning their transfer ban rely on a date with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the next few months.
The Blues have made a positive start to the season with youngsters breaking into Frank Lampard's side including Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount.
However the club are hoping to get the ban removed by the time the January transfer window rolls around as they look to add to the squad.
The Blues were slapped with a two-window ban by FIFA in which they cannot register any new players who are above the age of 16, after breaking regulations over the signing of youth players.
Chelsea's appeal to FIFA was thrown out, but in June they submitted an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to have the ban overturned or taken down to just one week.
Should they win their case, transfers will be back on the agenda and Leicester City star Ben Chilwell has been tipped to be the first player signed by the club, according to bookie SportNation.bet.
The 22-year-old has broken through to become of the country's best left-backs for both club and country - and has naturally been earmarked for a traditional Big Six club despite Leicester's brilliant start to the season.
Chilwell is 2/1 to sign for Frank Lampard’s charges, with the Blues needing a world class left-back - as well as fitting nicely into a team of young English prospects.
Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez is 3/1 in a swap plus cash deal for N'Golo Kante - and if that happens, they are 5/1 to raid West Ham for Declan Rice to fill Kante's shoes in the base of the midfield.
At 6/1 is attacking midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who has fallen way far down the pecking order at Barcelona since Frenkie de Jong's arrival - while another young Englishman, Jadon Sancho is 10/1 to be prised from Dortmund to join pal Callum Hudson-Odoi.
To sign for Chelsea in January
Ben Chilwell: 2/1
James Rodriguez: 3/1 (included in a deal for Kante)
Declan Rice: 5/1
Ivan Rakitic: 6/1
Jadon Sancho: 10/1
