The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword for Switch listing on Amazon

Classic Zelda game Skyward Sword has been listed on Amazon.co.uk as a preorder for the Nintendo Switch.

Rumours have been circulating online that Skyward Sword could be one of the next ports or remasters to come to the hybrid handheld console.

No release date has been included on the listing but a price on £69.99 is featured which is slightly more expensive than the standard £50 range of Nintendo first-party titles on Switch.

The listing doesn't contain any additional information and could be a template for another game or a mistake.

However, it's enough to get Zelda fans excited at a possible port of the classic action RPG title, which is currently only playable on the original Wii system and from the Wii U eShop.

The game made use of the Wii's motion controls, which were impressive at the time (Nintendo)

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword was released back in 2011 for the Nintendo Wii. The game is the first canonically in the Legend of Zelda series, and this iteration was known for heavily utilising the Wii's motion controls, Wii Remote and Wii Motion Plus.

The game also helped inspire some of the most important features such as the nonlinear gameplay of Breath of the wild.

There are also rumours of a possible collection of Mario remasters to be released soon to celebrate the powered up plumbers 35th anniversary but this has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo.

The Zelda series own 35th anniversary will also be coming up next year and could be marked by a special announcement.

With a possible Nintendo direct coming very soon now would be a great time for some HD Zelda ports to come over to Switch, while fans wait for a BTOW sequel.

Fans are dying to hear more news on the dark sequel to the smash hit The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

No more information has yet been released on the project since its first look trailer back in 2019 and it's not likely to be released this year, but many fans live in hope for a 2020 release.
