Micah Richards and Jamie Redknapp both believe the arrival of record-signing Rodrigo Moreno has contributed to Patrick Bamford's superb start to the season.
Bamford was an ever-present for the Whites last season scoring 16 goals in 45 appearances.
The striker is a favourite of Marcelo Bielsa's having moulded himself into the Argentine's perfect number nine, with his link-play and unselfish pressing two key attributes that have impressed the Leeds boss.
However, Bamford hasn't been short of critics in his time at Elland Road having suffered streaks of poor form last season.
The £27million signing of Rodrigo has provided Bielsa with another genuine out-and-out number nine option, although the Spaniard's versatility means both can play in the same XI.
Having started the 2020/21 Premier League season on fire, with three goals in as many matches, Richards and Redknapp believe it's the arrival of Rodrigo that has spurred him onto another level.
“Confidence. At the start of the season, he sees Rodrigo coming into the club for £27m, he probably thinks where do I fit in now?" Redknapp told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off against Manchester City.
"What’s gonna happen to me? Then he gets a little bit of luck from an uncharacteristic mistake by Virgil van Dijk, that one goes in and then you’re off.
" After that, his confidence is high, he’s picking up really good positions. Every time he gets the ball, he thinks he might score - that’s what you want from a player.
"I’m so pleased for him because the last time he was in the Premier League, you don’t quite know how it’s gonna work out for a player, but he looks really good and full of confidence.”
Richards added: “I think he’s brilliant. He’s the focal point up front, the way he presses.
"I watched him a lot in the Championship last season - and it’s a cliche - but can he do it in the Premier League? He’s started brilliantly, he really has. I hope he can keep it going.
"The way he’s playing, the way he presses from the front, it’s pivotal to how Leeds play. They signed Rodrigo and everyone thought he was gonna go straight in, but fair play to him, he’s stuck to his task so far and hopefully, he can keep it going.”
