The Leeds United player included in a Premier League team of the season so far

Liam Cooper is the only Leeds United player to be included in a 'Premier League Best XI' for this season so far.

The Whites captain has played 16 out of the club's 22 league games so far this term and has been his side's most consistently strong defender.

Marcelo Bielsa's team are now 10th in the Premier League table after Monday's win against Crystal Palace - a game that Cooper shone in.

The Scotland centre-back is part of a Leeds' defence which has conceded the joint-third most amount of goals this season, but his solid individual performances have now been recognised.

In WhoScored's 'seasonal Premier League Best XI', the Whites' skipper is one of two centre-backs in the back four.

Cooper is the only one of the Bielsa's squad that is included in the strongest line-up of the season and he sits alongside Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa is the goalkeeper, with Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Manchester City star Joao Cancelo the right-backs and left-backs, respectively.

The midfield four consists of Raheem Sterling (Man City), Bruno Fernandes (Man United), Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) and Jack Grealish (Aston Villa). The two strikes are Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur and Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton.

Cooper said after Monday night's win over Crystal Palace how proud he was of his team-mates for what they have achieved so far this season.

Speaking to Leeds' official website, the centre-back said: “I thought the lads were really good, we limited a very good Crystal Palace team to not having many chances and took our chances at the other end.

“I am proud of the boys, we look to improve every single day. As a club and as a team, we pride ourselves on working hard and limiting the opposition chances.

“We’ve done that against a very good side and hopefully we can continue to do that. I said last week we want to finish as high as we can."
