The Leeds 'hidden gem' curry house crowned the best in Yorkshire at English Curry Awards

A Leeds restaurant has won the Restaurant of the Year in Yorkshire and Humberside - less than two years since opening.

Table 26, in Swillington, received the prestigious award at the English Curry Awards earlier this week.

Co-founder Rob Hoque said the team were “pleased” to have won the award after a difficult year.

Rob and business partner Zak Udayn previously owned and ran Table 27, in Morley, before closing the restaurant down.

Despite creating a whole new business, they have seen success and their old customers have remained loyal.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Rob said: “We’re really pleased with it. We’ve been here two years now and we’ve gone into lockdown and Covid. We’ve had a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

“We sold Table 27 just before lockdown it got so busy we wanted to downsize so we put the restaurant up for sale.

“We found this place before lockdown and we opened in January, it took a while to get it going. We’re still getting our old customers. Its been really good.”
